A manufacturer of carbon and silicon seals and bearings recently contacted Aerodyne to replace its rotary valves. The company already uses the Vacu-Valve Platypus valves on its spray dryers and had been pleased with the maintenance free operation of the Vacu-Valve. The plant operators were interested in replacing the rotary valves on the dust collectors.

The Vacu-Valve Trickle Valve System is a cost-effective solution to troublesome rotary valves. It comes in two designs, the open construction of the Platypus and the closed construction of the Armadillo. Trickle valves are the most economical way to manage dust discharged from bag filters or cyclones under negative pressure. The fitted duckbill sleeve adjusts to the desired vacuum and material is continuously discharged. It requires no controls, lubrication or power supply and easily handles abrasive materials. This trickle valve can be used in higher temperature applications as well. There are a multitude of duckbill sleeves that can be selected to better suit the application the Vacu-Valve will be used in.

After replacing the high-maintenance rotary valves with the Vacu-Valve Armadillos, the company has reported that it is much more productive now that plant operators don’t have to constantly take the time out of production for rotary valve maintenance issues.
