An industrial company in the US that handles wollastonite was experiencing issues with the baghouse at the facility. The baghouse was used to remove the wollastonite from the air stream of the operation. The rock dust was present in the air stream in sizes as large as 250 micron. The baghouse collector couldn’t keep up with the demanding and abrasive nature of the wollastonite. The company reached out to Aerodyne to see what options were available to get the wollastonite operation running more smoothly.
Aerodyne offered a few solutions to the company. They recommended using a GPC-27 in the application. The company could choose whether or not to replace the entire baghouse with the GPC or use the GPC as a pre-filter for the baghouse. Both options would drastically improve the facility’s process.
The GPC dust collector is a compact high efficiency cyclone dust collector. It has several distinct advantages over common high-efficiency cyclone dust collectors. The spiral inlet of the GPC directs the dirty gas stream toward the ground plate and hopper of the collector. Coupled with the compact size of the collectors, this gives the GPC the ability to be installed horizontally with virtually no effect on the collection efficiency.
Aerodyne also offered that the company uses a 10” Armadillo Vacu-Valve airlock valve for better, hassle-free handling of the collected rock dust. Vacu-Valve’s require no power supply, lubrication, or controls and are a cost-effective solution to rotary airlock valves.
