A facility in Chicago that manufactures industrial hardware for building was looking for a solution to keep its process up to regulation standards. The aluminum scraps that were being produced during manufacturing were falling from the machines and on to the floor. Layers of dust and material scrap accumulation can lead to potential fire risks. With the new regulations from NFPA and OSHA, it was imperative that the company find a way to keep the excess materials from accumulating on the floor.
The plant manager reached out to Aerodyne Environmental for a solution that would both keep the company in compliance and not get in the way of the production. Aerodyne came up with a system that would utilize a fan to gather the aluminum scrap as it falls from the machines and then a GPC-20 dust collector to separate and collect the scraps. The exhausted air would then be sent through a filter for purification.
The GPC dust collector is a compact high efficiency cyclone dust collector. It has several distinct advantages over common high-efficiency cyclone dust collectors. The spiral inlet of the GPC directs the dirty gas stream toward the ground plate and hopper of the collector. Coupled with the compact size of the collectors, this gives the GPC the ability to be installed horizontally with virtually no effect on the collection efficiency.
